Over the past two weeks I planned how I would present my project during the morning meeting. Then, I created a script and filmed my fellows video. Next, I have to finish up my presentation for the fellows fair and practice presenting it!

Over the past two weeks I have still been editing my documentary. It's not gonna be as long as I first hoped it to be, but it will still have all the key components.
I also emailed Ms. Blanck and confirmed I can use her room for the A Period Fellows Fair! Over the past two weeks I have continued editing my documentary on imovie. In addition, as spring approaches the weather is getting warmer and the bees get out of their winter cluster.
Over spring break I continued to edit my documentary. Once, it gets warmer out I will check my bees, so I need to save some time for that footage. I decided to try and keep the editing style simple, the main focus of my project was to keep bees and the documentary was just my idea of how I could show this. I researched non-copyright songs I could use for the background. I had some difficulty finding music because a lot of the songs were really dramatic and I didn't want that to take the focus off the footage. As I sorted through my footage I cut out a lot of the unusable or unimportant parts, which took a lot of time. Some of my clips were up to 15 minutes long, so I sped them up which led to a cool stop motion effect, which I am happy with.
I plan for my A period presentation to explain my work throughout the year and then share a portion of my documentary. In the evening Fellows Presentation I would talk more about the process of my project and hopefully share some footage if time allows. Since I am away for parts of spring break, I have decided to just continue improving my outline and editing my documentary. I took this route instead of recording any voice overs this break because all I need to bring to edit is my computer. I decided editing on imovie will be sufficient for how I want my documentary to look, and I also have a lot of experience on this application. Hopefully, by the end of this break I will have all my summer footage clips in order of how I want to present them on iMovie. Then in April, I will have an understanding of how much more time needs to be filled after the summer footage is entered. I also posted my Mid Term Presentation on the notes section of my website.
Over the past two weeks, I got to see all the feedback from my midterm review presentation, and I recieved my Severn Fellows pin. After putting all that work and preparation into my presentation, it was nice to see how mostly all the comments were positive. The only thing I could work on is adding more depth to my documentary through interviews.
On February 7 I gave my Mid-term Fellows Presentation to present my work thus far. I think the presentation went well and I am proud of my work. Next, I'll met with Ms. Carsley to receive my pin and continue to wrap up my winter goals to prepare for spring.
I began reflecting on my work thus far in order to complete my fellows midterm project. However, the more challenging question is to plan what the rest of my year will look like. One change I have made with the interview process is to interview my dad along with an outside of school beekeeper. He's been my mentor and I've learned almost everything from him, so I think his ideas should be included in my documentary. I would like to create a short video introduction of my documentary for the powerpoint to show my work so far. Hopefully, I will get to continue my work as a Severn Fellow and finish my documentary after this midterm review.
Over the past two weeks I continued working on my outline. I wasn't sure how to format the outline because I've never made a documentary before, so I decided to watch a few youtube videos linked below. Not everything they say in them applies to my video but they offer good advice. I also researched a few different documentary outline formats to see which one would work best for me.
It has also been snowing a lot recently, which worried me a little for the health of the hives. However, after more research I was reassured that they will be ok. Bees don't ever hibernate, they are active all winter with one goal of protecting the queen till spring comes. You should refrain from ever checking inside the hive during the winter because this allows the hot air to escape and puts the bees in danger. The snow actually helps the bees because it acts as an insulator, however, it is important to clear the entrance so the hive can still ventilate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_3aySqPx3M https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQguVxMpqlo My winter break did not go completely to plan. Sadly, I got COVID during the first week of break and it made it hard to work on my project. This made it especially difficult to complete my interviews, which were scheduled the first week of break. I had a very sick sounding voice and a cough, I did not want to appear like this in my documentary because it would give it more of an unprofessional look. So, I decided to reschedule to the second week of break, however the interviewees were busy with work and the holidays that a time was never able to be scheduled. I decided the way to recover from this would be to work on the outline instead. This could prove to be beneficial to do before interviews because I know when the clips of interviews should be played and when I want to see their face or just have their voiceover. I added a new page to my weebly where you can see the outline of the documentary, which is a much more in depth outline than I had in the summer. Although, I was sad to not complete the interviews I will coordinate a time in the future and they will get done. On the bright side, I feel more organized having a better outline and can see the documentary coming together.
